Lake Dixon

Prior to Arizona life twice a year my sidekick Steve and I would get a group of friends together to do camping during the summer by the beach and in the fall we'd head up to the mountains.  Mount Laguna and San Onofre.  Sometimes we would do hikes in the mountains and during the summer we would always spend our entire time at the beach.  We never ventured any farther until now.

While living in Arizona we had Lake Pleasant which was about 1/2 hour away and it was great!  Full hookups, fishing and my side kick and pups, it always made for fun weekends.  We decided to check out Lake Dixon in Escondido because it was also a 1/2 hour away and had full hook ups as well.  We took a drive with the pups to check out possible RV spots...

We had the choice of city views...

Or a lake view...

Decisions, decisions.  We ended up with Space #23 with a lake view because it had the best way to get the toy hauler in and out and it would be good for the pups also.

A couple of other spaces for 21 feet or shorter RV/trailers/toy haulers are spaces 15, 16, 18 and 20.  From what we saw, the all have full hook ups. We found one spot tent camping that we may try out also.  Space #9.

We can buy day fishing passes for beach fishing or rent a boat if we want to go on the lake.  The only draw back is we won't be able to bring the dogs down to the beach.  They'll have to stay in the toy hauler.  Good thing we will be camping during the cold months.  The dogs will probably stay snuggled in their coats and beds while we are fishing for dinner. hahaha...

I'm really looking forward to resuming our camping adventures.  I know my side kick will have more camping adventures with his guy friends, but the time we spend camping are some of my favorite weekends and moments.
